Practice/Jamborees

Jamborees will be allowed for 2023.  The event MUST take place PRIOR to the first date of competition or a date of competition will be used.

For all TMSGA schools there is not a pre-season or off-season rule applied to golf.  Coaches still need to adhere to the Dead Period in July.

Those schools that play golf in the fall season must wait until the end of that season before TMSGA practice may start.

Regular Season

The 2023 TMSGA regular season begins February 27, 2023 as long as all forms have been submitted.  Each team/individual is allowed to schedule and compete in a maximum of 15 dates of competition. Any team/individual that competes in more than 15 dates of competition will be deemed ineligible for all post-season play. The maximum allowable matches applies to all players as well (i.e. a player cannot play more than 15 combined dates of competition if competing on both Varsity and JV teams).

The district representative (see "Member Schools" for district representatives) will coordinate with their district coaches to design a schedule that falls within the above structure.

For a date of competition to count as played, it must be conducted under the current
TMSGA Match Guidelines and the competition must be played against at least one other full team.

Match Participation Squad Limits

Boys Matches: A team is allowed to play four or five players in a boys match. The four lowest scores are tabulated to calculate the team's total score.

Girls Matches: A team is allowed to play two or three players in a girls match. The two lowest scores are tabulated to calculate the team's total score.

If teams have additional players and the golf course has room, individuals not on the competition squad may participate.

Post Season - Based on the number of teams that sign up, these numbers may be amended.

In order to be eligible for post season play, a member school must SCHEDULE at least five (5) dates of competition. For players competing as individuals in the TMSGA (not affiliated with a school) they must also SCHEDULE at least five (5) dates of competition to be eligible for the post season.

District Tournament - All teams/individuals are eligible to compete in their district tournament given they meet the minimum/maximum dates of competition requirements listed above. The boys' and girls' divisions will BOTH play 9 holes for the district tournament.

Region Tournament - The following is the breakdown of how many teams/individuals will qualify from each division (boys and girls division counted separately) in each district based upon region location:

# teams in DistrictSpots Advancing
1 - 51
 6 - 102
11 or more3

Region 1 - Middle Tennessee (Districts M2, M3 East, M3 Middle, M3 West and M4): The top boys and girls team(s) (see above) at each district tournament will qualify.

Region 2 - West Tennessee (Districts W1 North, W1 South and W2): The top boys and girls team(s) (see above) at each district tournament will qualify.

Region 3 - East Tennessee (Districts E1, E2, E3, E4 North and E4 South): The top boys and girls team(s) (see above) at each district tournament will qualify.

Region 4 - Central Tennessee (Districts C1 and C2):
The top boys and girls team(s) (see above) at each district tournament will qualify.

Individuals: In each district tournament the top two (2) individual boys and girls (not on an advancing team) will be invited to their respective Region tournaments.

**For example: District X has ten (10) boys teams and eleven (11) girls teams compete in the district X tournament. District X would send the top two (2) boys teams, the top three (3) girls teams, and the top two (2) boys & girls individuals NOT on an advancing team to the Regional Championship.**

The Regional Tournament is a one (1) day championship. Both the boys and girls divisions will play18 holes. The top boy's and girl's team in each division will be awarded a "Region Champion" plaque and the top 5 boys and top 5 girls will be named to the "All-Region Team". Please see the "Awards" section for more information.

**The TMSGA reserves the right to split a district into two districts if they field 16+ teams during a season**
